Birds

Birds are how I got into wildlife photography in the first place. It all started with a bird I photographed and couldn't identify. That turned out to be a Blackcap. Birds have since then always kept my interest and I have seen many more. I look for them both in my home country and abroad.

Mammals

There are many extraordinary mammals around and it's always a joy to see one. Many of my trips abroad are built around seeing certain mammals, often carnivores. There is a high risk of failure with these animals, but that makes it all the more sweet to finally see them!

Wild Cats

I picked wild cats (Felidae) as the group of animals that I like my trips abroad to focus on. I plan to see every species of this family, although some are considered very difficult. I liked having a goal to serve as a bit of a guideline for trip planning and cats are definitely worth the attention!

Landscapes

Looking for wildlife comes with the added benefit to be in many amazing landscapes. Although my focus is on the wildlife I sometimes can't resist investing some time in landscape photography. I especially like taking pictures at night because then the camera can bring out so much more.

View below the surface

The area below the water surface offers a whole new playing field for photography which requires very different skills and equipment. Fairly recently I have become interested in getting nice pictures under water. I focus on wide-angle photography while making use of natural light.

A Touch of Alaska on Texel: Spectacled Eider!

The world knows only four species of eider. These ducks are found exclusively in the Northern Hemisphere and are specialized for life at sea. The Steller’s eider is an odd one out because it’s suspected to have originated from hybridization between the common eider and the long-tailed duck. I saw this species last year on […]

Diving with a Dugong

The Dugong is a very special animal to see. From the front, it has a sort of vacuum-cleaner-like snout, while from the back, it sports a dolphin-like tail. Its front limbs have evolved into flippers. The Dugong has adapted to the “sea cow model” and belongs to the Sirenia order, which also includes manatees. These […]
